We were delighted to welcome a student from a local comprehensive school for a week of work experience here at Net Primates. We believe it’s important to give young people a real taste of the tech industry, beyond the classroom. We were genuinely impressed with their enthusiasm, positive attitude, and willingness to learn. Here’s what they had to say about the week:
“Hello! I’d like to share a bit about my work experience week at Net Primates.
From day one, I was warmly welcomed by the team, and let’s be honest, a friendly Monday morning greeting isn’t something you get every day! After a tour of the office and some introductions, I quickly got stuck in.
On my very first day, I helped set up eight all-in-one PCs with guidance from Chris, one of the fantastic team members here. The next day, I tackled 11 laptops — again with Chris’s support — and it all went really smoothly.
I’ll admit, when I saw my hours were 9 to 5, I thought it might feel like a really long week. But I was completely wrong. The days flew by because the work was genuinely fun and interesting.
One of the biggest things I’ve taken away is how to properly install and set up a computer — something I’ve never done at school, even though I’ve studied the full Computer Science course. While that course taught me a lot, this hands-on experience has shown me what working in IT is really like, and it’s made me even more curious about the world of tech.
I even learned how to install an operating system using just a USB drive, and I now understand what the BIOS menu actually does — not just how to access it!
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at Net Primates. Every member of staff was helpful, kind, and made me feel part of the team. This week has taught me so much and inspired me to explore ICT even further.”
We’re proud to support the next generation of IT professionals and provide real-world experience that can help shape career decisions. It’s been a pleasure having them with us, and we wish them all the best in whatever they decide to do next. Who knows — we may even see them back here one day as part of the team!
