We’re so proud of Steve for passing the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) Cyber Advisor assessment. Passing the test demonstrates that Steve offers you cybersecurity advice to an NCSC approved standard. You can have confidence that Steve has:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Cyber Essentials’ technical controls
  • Competence in providing practical, hands-on support
  • Ability to understand and work with small and medium-sized organisations

Passing the NCSC Cyber Advisor assessment marks yet another significant step in Steve’s professional journey in his constant pursuit to thwart cybercrime and protect customers from cyber threats.

Understanding the Cyber Advisor scheme

The NCSC Cyber Advisor scheme is designed to give you confidence that your chosen IT service provider delivers cybersecurity advice that meets NCSC-approved standards. This scheme is particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that may not have extensive in-house cybersecurity expertise.

The rigorous assessment process that Steve has been through…

Becoming a Cyber Advisor involves passing an independent assessment that evaluates several critical competencies.

Knowledge and understanding of Cyber Essentials’ technical controls

The Cyber Essentials framework sets out five basic security controls that can protect organisations from common online threats. These include measures like firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, and patch management. The assessment ensures that Cyber Advisors are thoroughly versed in these technical controls and understand how to implement them effectively.

Competence in providing practical, hands-on support

The ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios is essential. The assessment tested Steve’s skills in offering hands-on support to implement security measures, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that systems are resilient against cyber threats.

Ability to understand and work with small and medium-sized organisations

SMEs often face unique challenges due to limited resources and varying levels of cybersecurity maturity. The assessment evaluated Steve’s ability to meet the specific needs of SMEs, ensuring that the advice and support provided was both practical and effective.
