As part of this endeavour Steve recently attended the Blunt Security ‘SME Cyber Consultant Training Programme’, a course tailored specifically for cybersecurity professionals advising SMEs. This course was a comprehensive deep dive into both foundational and advanced cybersecurity concepts, and we’d like to share why we attended, what we gained, and how it enhances the services we provide for you. 

Why we took this course

  • Ethics, professional standards and Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

This training emphasised ethical standards and professional conduct, crucial for building and maintaining trust with clients. We covered best practices for handling sensitive data responsibly, along with legal considerations unique to cybersecurity. Moreover, the course reinforced the importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), ensuring that we not only meet but exceed industry standards as threats evolve.   • Consultancy soft skills
    Knowledge alone doesn’t make a great consultant; communication and empathy are essential too. This focus on soft skills means we’re better equipped to communicate effectively and build stronger, trust-based client relationships. 
  • Beyond Cyber Essentials
    Cyber Essentials is a fantastic starting point, but it doesn’t cover every cybersecurity need. We received an in-depth overview of what lies beyond Cyber Essentials, including frameworks like ISO27001 and NIST, so we can advise you on more advanced, comprehensive protections as your business grows and evolves. 
  • Report writing and case studies
    Documentation is vital in cybersecurity. We refined our report writing skills to help ensure you receive clear, concise, and actionable insights that help you understand your current security position and what steps are needed. Plus, working through real-world case studies strengthened our ability to handle end-to-end consultancy projects with confidence and precision. 
  • Tools of the trade
    A well-equipped cybersecurity toolkit can make all the difference in addressing specific needs effectively. We learnt about the latest tools available, how they apply to different scenarios, and when to use each for maximum security impact.
