If your business is still running Windows 10, now’s the time to start thinking ahead. From October 2025, Microsoft will officially stop supporting Windows 10, meaning no more security updates, no more patches, and no more protection against new cyber threats.

That might seem a while away, but planning your upgrade now could save you a huge amount of time, cost, and disruption further down the line.

At first glance, Windows 10 may not feel like an old system. It still runs smoothly for many businesses, and its design feels modern. But it was launched over a decade ago and technology has moved on significantly since then. What once seemed cutting-edge is quickly becoming outdated. And while it might still be getting the job done today, it won’t be able to offer the protection your business needs in the future.

When support ends, any vulnerabilities discovered in Windows 10 will remain unpatched. That leaves the door open to cybercriminals – something we’ve seen happen before with unsupported systems. The WannaCry attack in 2017, for example, is estimated to have affected 300k computers across the world, causing huge disruption. Much of the spread was attributed to organisations that had not applied vital security patches.

It’s also worth noting that not all older devices can run Windows 11. Some businesses are already discovering that their current hardware doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. If that’s the case for you, now is the perfect opportunity to assess what needs replacing—and do it in a measured, planned way. Leaving it too late risks rushed purchases, downtime, and a lot more stress.

At Net Primates, we’re here to help you prepare for the move. Whether that means checking which of your devices can be upgraded, helping with replacement planning, or managing the whole migration process from start to finish, we’re here to make it simple.

If you’re unsure where to start, get in touch. We’ll help you take the guesswork out of your upgrade and make sure your business is secure, supported and ready for the future.
